Is advising right for your family?

It may help if…

  • You’d like an outside view of a college list before applications are due.
  • You’re deciding where to apply and want a clear, realistic strategy.
  • Senior-year deadlines feel crowded and you want a calm, organized plan.
  • Your student wants feedback and accountability from someone outside the family.

You may not need it if…

  • Your school counselor has time to meet, and you’re getting the answers you need.
  • ICP’s guides and tools already answer your questions.
  • You’re hoping for a promised admission result. No honest advisor can offer one.

If paid advising doesn’t seem worthwhile for your situation, you’ll hear that in the first conversation.

How it works

  1. Book a time

Choose a time for the complimentary 20-minute consultation, or send a short email first. Please leave out grades, test scores, essays and financial documents for now.

  2. Talk it through

A complimentary 20-minute conversation on Google Meet about your student’s goals and whether private advising is a good fit.

  3. Receive service information

If advising makes sense, you’ll receive individualized service information, including scope and fees, in writing before any work begins. There’s no obligation to continue.

  4. Work together

If you go ahead, you’ll agree together on how documents are shared. Nothing moves from ICP automatically; your family decides what to share.

Fees

Private advising is optional and paid. Fees and engagement options are discussed individually, and terms and costs are confirmed in writing before any paid work begins. You’re welcome to ask about pricing by email; you don’t need to book a consultation first.

Complimentary introductory consultation: 20 minutes, no charge.

Our commitments

  • No one can guarantee an admission or scholarship result, and we never will.
  • Essays and applications remain the student’s own work.
  • ICP’s free tools, data and guidance are the same for advising clients and everyone else, and are never changed to promote advising.
  • Nothing from a student’s ICP plan is shared with us unless the family chooses to send it.

Book a complimentary 20-minute consultation

A complimentary 20-minute conversation on Google Meet about your student’s goals and whether private advising is a good fit.

This booking is for the introductory consultation only. Paid advising is arranged afterwards, in writing, if your family decides to go ahead.

Calendly shows the available times and uses its own cookies, analytics and advertising tools. Nothing loads from Calendly until you open it.

Scheduling is handled by Calendly, a separate service with its own privacy terms. A parent or guardian should book, or the student if they are 18 or older. Please leave out grades, test scores, essays and financial documents. A consultation is recorded only if everyone attending agrees.

Scheduler not showing? Some school and work networks block it. Open the scheduler on Calendly ↗ (opens in a new tab) or email a question.

Questions families ask

Do we need advising to use ICP?

No. ICP’s tools and guides are free to use without an account, and nothing in ICP is reserved for advising clients.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes. The 20-minute introductory consultation is complimentary. Paid advising begins only if your family decides to go ahead, after you’ve received service information in writing.

How much does advising cost?

Fees depend on the support your family wants and are discussed individually. You can ask about pricing by email at any time, with or without booking a consultation, and terms and costs are confirmed in writing before any paid work begins.

Is ICP’s information different for advising clients?

No. College data, cost figures, Fit matches and guidance are the same for everyone, and are never adjusted to promote advising.

Can a student get in touch directly?

Advising questions and consultation bookings should come from a parent or guardian, or from a student who is 18 or older. Students of any age can use ICP’s free tools without contacting ICP or giving any contact information.

Will the consultation be recorded?

Only if everyone attending agrees. ICP may use Calendly’s Notetaker to record, transcribe and summarize a consultation for its advising records. At the start of the meeting, ICP asks each person present, including the student; one person’s agreement doesn’t count for anyone else. Saying no is fine: the consultation goes ahead the same way without recording. A consultation that a child under 13 attends is not recorded. The Privacy Policy explains how recordings are kept and deleted.

Can you promise my student will be admitted?

No. Admission decisions belong to colleges, and no advisor can honestly promise an outcome. Advising can help a student make clear, well-informed choices and present their own work well.

Does ICP share our plan with advising?

No. A student’s ICP plan stays in their browser. If you become a client, you choose what to share, and how.

Before you write

A first message only needs the student’s grade, what you’d like help with and a few times that work. Questions about pricing are welcome too. Please don’t send transcripts, test scores, essays, financial-aid documents or ID numbers yet. Please write as a parent or guardian, or as a student who is 18 or older.
